Governor Jared Polis’s Praise for RFK Jr. Nomination Should Concern Coloradans

Many of our neighbors are worried about the future well-being of our state and nation. It was an inopportune moment for Governor Jared Polis to make a sudden, unexplained departure from long-held public health policy.

For Governor Polis to endorse President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services knowing Kennedy’s controversial anti-vaccine stance, often shared without evidence, is both concerning and bewildering.

Governor Polis’s endorsement contradicts his own previous warnings about discouraging proven and effective vaccines. Communities in the U.S. with low vaccination rates have seen resurgences of diseases like measles and polio.

The Governor’s contradictory statement only adds to the uncertainty surrounding our state’s future health initiatives.

Many, including the Green Party of Colorado, worry this stance could undermine the health of Coloradans. As such, the Green Party of Colorado joins our neighbors who support evidence-based public health policy and demand clarification from Governor Polis.
