Green Party of Colorado Unveils 2025 Colorado Workers Agenda
Denver – The Green Party of Colorado (GPCO) in the lead up to the upcoming legislative session has announced its 2025 Colorado Workers Agenda, a comprehensive plan aimed at improving the wellbeing and livelihoods of Colorado residents.
Our agenda calls on the state legislature and governor to implement five key policies:
-
Scrap The Cap: Living Wages Now
GPCO proposes amending HB19-1210 to eliminate the current annual cap on local minimum wage increases. This change will empower local governments to set wages that reflect the true cost of living in their communities, helping to lift workers out of poverty.
-
Keep Colorado Housed
To address the ongoing housing crisis, GPCO calls for a $50 million investment in the recent Emergency Rental Assistance Grant Program. This initiative aims to prevent evictions and keep families in their homes amid rising living costs.
-
Climate Action Now
The party urges Governor Polis to invoke CRS section 24-33.5-704 and declare a state of emergency in response to the growing threat of climate change. This declaration would prioritize immediate action to protect public health, safety, and property.
-
Our Workers First
GPCO proposes eliminating the anti-union second “Union Security” election mandated by the 1934 Labor Peace Act, streamlining the process for union formation and negotiation.
-
Debt Free Colorado
The party advocates for the creation of a new state fund to provide debt forgiveness grants for medical and student loan debt for Colorado residents offering relief to working-class families.
“Our 2025 Colorado Workers Agenda addresses some of the most pressing issues facing working families in our state,” said Co-chair Patrick Dillon. “From ensuring living wages to tackling the housing crisis and addressing climate change, these policies represent a comprehensive approach to improving the lives of all Coloradans this year – not 10 years from now.”
The Green Party of Colorado calls on all state legislators and the governor to support and implement these crucial measures, emphasizing that they are both urgent and essential for building a more equitable economy and sustainable future for the state.
