GREEN PARTY OF COLORADO ENDORSES THERESA STETS FOR COLORADO HOUSE DISTRICT 12

First-ever endorsement of an unaffiliated candidate by GPCO

Denver, CO, August 7, 2018 — The Green Party of Colorado (GPCO) is proud to endorse Theresa Stets for Colorado House District 12, in a unanimous vote of our state council.  Ms. Stets has successfully petitioned onto the ballot as an unaffiliated candidate for HD12. As the party of people, peace and planet over profit, GPCO believes Stets’ platform is precisely what Coloradans need today to preserve community rights and to protect the human rights of quality education, dignified work and retirement, as well as clean air, soil and water.

Stets’ history of fighting for community rights is well documented, as an integral part of the East Boulder County United activist community. As a mother and a science educator, Stets understands that the struggle for a safe and healthy local environment is an important one for every family in HD12, regardless of class, identity or citizenship status.  Her campaign mirrors the intersectional analysis of society that we ourselves use, and we strongly support her fight to extricate the entire community from corporate control that is skewing the perspective of the Colorado legislature on both sides of the aisle.

We support Stets’ fight to secure PERA for retired workers, to repeal the Labor Peace Act, for a state-run public banking system, as well as for a system of health care for all that is unlinked from the profit motive of the “health” insurance and pharmaceutical industries.  The common link in all these issues is the corporate control over issues that are human rights, and we stand with Theresa Stets for a Colorado that is worthy of us all.
